Supporting Sustainable Fisheries and Community Well-Being

A-Tlegay Fisheries Society delivers a wide range of services that support member Nations, protect local ecosystems, and strengthen community knowledge. From permitting and training to scientific monitoring, habitat restoration, and youth education, our programs are shaped by both traditional stewardship values and modern fisheries science.

Summer Camp

Every summer (usually in the last week of July) A-Tlegay field technicians and biologists provide a fun filled week for the youth of our member nations. The camp provides an education about the modern science our technicians employ as well as traditional knowledge about our territories.

Typically, the camp will give attendees experience with crab surveys, clam surveys, salmon species identification and traditional salmon smoking and preservation techniques.

Indigenous Peoples Day

National Aboriginal Day takes place on June 21. It is a special day to celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding achievements of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples in Canada. A-Tlegay supports this special day with an educational booth and fun games for our youth.
